Advantages and a One Disadvantage in Reading E-Books

Let's start off with the advantages.

1. Electronic books are lighter. As a missionary and TESL teacher, shipping is expensive, so lighter the product - the better, and CD-ROMs are definitely lighter than books.

2. They are also space savers. Books take up space, and when a bunch of books are in one disc, it eliminates at least one box of shipping. And on another note, if space is a problem and you prefer using hard bound books all the time, I suggest in using the library and donating some old books so other people can read them.

3. Sometimes they are cheaper than books. When I can get five quality books for the price of one, that's fantastic.

4. The fourth reason is because Libronix and Logos created a great computer program. It has search engine that can look up words and/or topics within all the books available on the consumer's personal Libronix library - either in computer hard drive or CD-ROM. So if a pastor is preparing for a sermon, they are able to have a library search engine at their finger tips. A research method that can't be done with old fashion books.

Okay, now the disadvantage.

1. I will always recommend using electronic or e-books for reference, but the big disadvantage is the difficulty in reading the same book for a long time. So if I'm planning to read an entire book, I prefer to read a hard bound book, because I can read faster and it's less straining on the eyes.

Now since I have written about reading books, I guess it would be wise for me to get back into it, for I haven't read anything since the Honeymoon.
